How To Write A Successfull Song

What do I create first? 

melody?

lyrics?

chords?

From where to start?

Where can I find the ideas?

These are the questions that pop into the mind of a new composer

How many steps you need to follow to create a successfull song?

My personal opinion is that you have to trust yourself and just do what you feel like to do. I can only give you a story about how I wrote mine, but unfortunatle not steps or a guide.

First you need to find a strong feeling, like "love" or "hate" or "sadness".

Maybe a friend could possibly help you. For example, I tried to write a song about my crush over 3 times and I was really out of ideas. One day, I told my friend that I REALLY want to write a song about that boy and we start singing a melody and throw some stupid lyrics over that. It wasn't making sense at all.  We return into the house and I grabed my guitar and I played 2 chords ( E, C#m ) and my friend started to sing a melody that was really catchy. The one thing brought the other and now I have a song for my crush and I am very happy
